The Revenue Cycle Specialist with a focus on Prior Authorization is a key member of the Billing/Revenue Cycle Department, ensuring therapy and PPEC services are properly authorized and compliant with payer requirements. This role specializes in obtaining, tracking, and maintaining prior authorizations for Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Speech Therapy (ST), and serves as backup support for PPEC authorizations and billing tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and proactive, supporting uninterrupted patient care and accurate reimbursement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Obtain, track, and manage prior authorizations
Prepare and submit complete authorization requests with required documentation
Communicate with insurance representatives, case managers, and clinical staff to facilitate timely service approvals.
Monitor authorization expirations and proactively request renewals.
Assist with denial management, re-submissions, and appeals related to authorizations or claim issues.
Provide backup support for PPEC billing processes and assist with claim work or other revenue cycle functions as needed.
Collaborate closely with therapists, nursing staff, and billing team members to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of medical terminology
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of insurance procedures, Medicaid, and private insurers.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

WORK CONDITIONS

Physical demands

May be confined to a limited workspace.
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, kneel and reach freely.
Must be able to lift or move a maximum of 25-50 lbs. with assistance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Must have acute hearing and olfactory senses.
Employees must have good tactile senses and fine manual dexterity with range of motion to all extremities.

Work environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee will encounter moderate physical exertion.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to severe.
There may be numerous distractions that will need to be filtered out.

Monday - Friday 8AM-5PM (some flexibility)
